What is a PCR test? (Swab Test)

PCR is a laboratory test to diagnose the COVID-19 infection based on viral DNA. The test involves a nasal swab that looks like a long Q-tip and draws mucus from the patient’s nasal cavity. The swab is then inserted into a vial and is shipped to a laboratory where lab techs or machines use reagents to extract the viral RNA. Families First Coronavirus Response (Families First) Act
 and the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Collectively require comprehensive private health insurance plans to cover COVID-19 testing and related services without cost-sharing, although only for the duration of the current declared public health emergency.
 
Once your test is completed, we will provide an itemized receipt that will contain the information you will need to apply for the reimbursement directly from your health insurance provider. You may contact your insurance company for reimbursement procedures.
 
Bring your picture ID and your insurance card at the time of your appointment to facilitate the billing of your insurance company by the lab and the filing of a reimbursement claim with your insurance company.
